Mission

PC Tots is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality, affordable, and safe childcare for working families in the Park City community. Our Extended Day Learning Program focuses on Early Childhood education, social development, and cultural awareness for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old.

PC Tots was developed by community members who recognized that there was a strong need for quality and affordable childcare in our Park City.  As a collective, members of  Mountainlands Community Housing Trust, Holy Cross Ministries United Way, Intermountain Healthcare, Summit County Library, and the previous the owner of Keystone Montessori Community School joined together to form PC Tots, a 501c3 non-profit. This collective creation allows PC Tots to directly respond to the unique needs of the Park City community and their need for quality and affordable childcare.

Program Philosophy

We believe that safety is our main priority when caring for your child.  PC Tots staff follows comprehensive health and safety procedures to ensure that children are actively supervised, and create an environment that keeps your child both physically and emotionally healthy.  PC Tots understands that the consistent health and safety of your children is the foundation to create an environment that is rich in education and development. Children grow and learn best in a safe environment that provides opportunity to explore, create and communicate with other children and adults.

PC Tots program is designed to include both planned and spontaneous activities in response to the children’s interest. Experiences with music, movement, art, language and literacy are incorporated into daily routines to promote their development. Regularly scheduled snacks and meals, rest times, indoor and outdoor play, and large group times encourage children to participate in groups and develop social emotional skills like sharing and communicating their feelings. Our daily routines support children to develop both individual and group skills.

Children are encouraged to develop a positive self-image, to learn inner self-controls to cooperate with peers and teachers. Clearly defined limits help them to recognize and accept their emotions and express their feelings as they grow and feel secure in the world around them. PC Tots teachers are there to offer children tools and guidance to work through their feelings and communicate effectively and positively.

PC Tots aims to create a program for diverse working families in the Park City community. PC Tots actively recruits and enrolls children from the multiple levels of Park City’s socioeconomic and diverse multicultural makeup. We practice an anti-biased curriculum and promote and embrace cultural diversity. Curriculum and classroom climate will respect this diversity and promote lasting friendships and partnerships as children graduate from PC Tots and move into the public school system.
